finally, a family

I needed a breather, but I’m back

9465.jpgLeave it to me to blow off posting in November, the month during which EVERYONE posts daily, despite the fact that many of us have nothing more interesting to say than, “Oh, my God! I just got back from the bathroom!” I can’t say I’m terribly sorry because I know you’ve had more than enough blogginess to read lately.

It’s also the month of my blogiversary, which I seem to have forgotten until yesterday, several days past the actual event. That’s typical behavior from me, considering I almost forgot my own real wedding anniversary last year.

While I was absent from the blog, there was much endless nagging with a camera in my hand, which is how my husband ended up on the floor in the above position. Apparently, his neck doesn’t bend the manner I expected it to for my latest family photo plot, so he came up with this brilliant pose instead. The family photo was the one my mother required for her holiday card. The holiday card I designed today, suppressing my desire to upchuck every time I looked at the smooth spots where I cloned out the wrinkly smile-bags under my eyes. See, there IS a benefit to doing that card, aside from all the positive attention I get that I lap up like a starved dog.

During my downtime there was also a cold sore saga that resulted in comments from my students like, “Hey, what’s wrong with your face? Did you get hit?” I ended up getting some heavy-duty prescription cream from my doctor, but it still took three days for it to go away, and now I’m stuck with a crater on my upper lip. Yay. The postitive is that, whoo-hoo! I got to skip the family Thanksgiving. Oh, and if you think you need to give me advice for avoiding them in the future, I know how I got it–stress. I’ll use the cream the second I feel it coming on next time, but I swear, this one was almost fantastically unstoppable–it was so sore that my eye hurt and I had a sore spot under my jaw.

It was also my first almost-full day away from Jackson…maybe ever? I cleaned, I designed more holiday cards and…I missed him and his dad. I almost welcome the mess that seems to follow that little guy around everywhere, just to be around him. Even if he’s learned to shriek and does it frequently without notice.

So. Tomorrow, I’ll try to be a little more interesting. I just thought you might want to know that, no, your life isn’t that boring when you compare it to mine.
