Watch out for the eyes

August 6, 2008

Wait for the page to load, then click on the thumbnail to view the whole picture!

Stacy’s theme at The Land of K.A. this Thursday is eyes, and since I find it difficult to follow the rules, you’ll have to listen a bit while I try to explain how I explain away my little rule-bending exercise.

1. J’s eyes are amazing.  They’re huge, framed with beautiful eyelashes and…well…beautiful. The problem is, every time I see his eyes as he’s out there playing, I catch my breath and think about what a blessing he is.

2. He’s almost always got his back to me and is at a full run or is looking down at something in the grass.  It’s just the way he plays, so I rarely actually get to see them unless we’re cuddling close.

3. There actually is, kind of, an eyes picture here.  The shot of him standing there, looking to the side, shows off the lovelies at about one percent of their power.  I like it, despite the fact that it’s not that interesting, because I know the whole story.  Yesterday, we went to Grandma’s and visited Cousin E. Cousin E decided to perform her version of “Wheels on the Bus,” which J knows quite well.  J heard her, ran up to the deck and started performing with her, clapping and singing and jumping in time with their beat. This is the only picture I have that doesn’t show Cousin E or doesn’t have J sticking his finger in his nose or something :)

Anyway, that’s the reason for the choice here.  The others are just shots that have meaning.  The one of J scooting next to the gator, for example, will remind me in years to come of how much he loves that gator, repeating “Wide, wide, wide!” every time he sees one. I guess that’s the nice thing about photos–whether they’re technically good or horrific, if they capture one of those moments that seem insignificant but become special after passing time, they all can be counted as treasures.

And with that sentimental thought, I leave you.  I do want to mention, though, that if you wanted a set of those cute stickers I was giving away last week, there’s another giveaway featuring them over at Alayna’s Closet.  The post will be up by Saturday morning, so stop by and enter!

Hey Julie, I got your comment out of spam, but you didn’t put it in the Theme Thursday post, but the one after it. :) If you want to go back over there and put your link in that one then everyone will see it. I turn off Akismet now for the day.

You are so right about those big beautiful eyes of his. You could just melt right into them. :)

I LOVE the pictures! You are right, his eyes are just stunning! Beautiful! Full of life!

I agree with your sentiment of photos. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how they come out…it’s the memory behind them.

Oh wow. Your address labels are awesome.

If you ever want to trade some of your (adorable) product for some handmade jewelry, let me know! We could get a little Christmas shopping done early!
