OK, class, it’s time for your geography lesson!
Don’t worry–this isn’t a flashback from elementary school; it’s a quick local current events post. I’ve been hearing the flooding is bad, but I didn’t realize how bad. I was planning a trip to see my sister today–now I’m thinking we’ll be postponing it. To get there, I have to get from one of the above green-shaded areas to another. This map is from the Wisconsin DOT, and as you can see…there’s a swath of road closings all across the state. The flooding in Iowa and Minnesota isn’t represented, but it’s there, obviously. You know, we had some very bad flooding last August and a lot of the people who are affected right now hadn’t yet recovered from the flooding and mudslides we had then. Lake Delton had cancelled their participation in the FEMA flood program. It’s not a pretty place to be right now. Please, keep all those affected in your thoughts this weekend–while we’re sitting on our decks or playing in the sand with our kids, they’re watching their dreams be sucked away in the water, again.

I know…it’s pretty bad! Watching the footage about the three states here, it is so sad. I’ve never made it to the Dells for recreation, but passed by it many times. That was just insane that the lake emptied in three hours. Insane!

I live in the flooded area in WI, but luckily my place isn’t flooded (well, I hope it isn’t - I have been out of town for a few days for work and just got back to the office - I’ll find out in a couple of hours). I did traverse part fo the flooded area today. I am having flashbacks to the floods of 1993 - and that isn’t good. BE SAFE EVERYONE!

I feel so bad for all of the people who are effected (i.e. losing homes) because of the flooding. Just another reason to be thankful for everything we have. :(

Ugh. How horrible. I’ve been a little bit out of the news loop. (I mean I knew this was HAPPENING, but I’ve not seen much footage.)
