Someone flipped the switch. Summer is here!

May 26, 2008

Today was the most relaxed I’ve felt in months–months. I suppose if you live in a warmer climate, you might not understand that this feeling is something to be cherished, but today when I was out weeding one of my overgrown flower beds I felt the warmth of the sun penetrate into my muscles, relaxing me in a way that it probably just as good as an awesome massage. After months of cold, rainy weekends (or weekends full of paperwork and books), we finally had a perfect set of days to get yardwork done, visit with family and plant the garden.

J watched T wash the cars and then played in the mud puddles left over from last night’s thunderstorms. I had time to make one of T’s favorite recent recipes for lunch, and J took a long enough nap for me to get a nap in AND finish weeding the biggest of the flower beds, and the one that needed the most attention after last summer’s baby-related neglect.

I just can’t wait for summer, but this weekend gave me enough of a break that I know I can handle two more weeks. I hope your weekend was just a pleasant!

Yesterday was 92 (thermometer) in the shade. My wife, who is from North of Texas had to explain that “Summer” is more exciting to the folks from up North than to us broiling already.

What cute pictures! I’m over from NCLM to say hi. I know what you mean about enjoying the warm weather. Here in Michigan it was 86 degrees and we were outside the whole weekend. Too bad tonight is back to the 30s and we have to take our flowers inside. Oh well, it was nice for a day :-)

Its a great feeling when the sun gives you that tingly warm feeling. We had a few nice days and then a tornado came through on Sunday (in Minnesota during my sister in laws graduation party), but it didnt put a damper on things. Minimal damage (one tree fell) and the party went on. That’s how my family rolls! :)

    Your son is adorable!

My dad was balding at 35. I’m 29 and blonde but I swear I am starting to see gray hairs in there. I’ve never colored my hair, but I will when the time comes.

YES! Being cooped up all winter with a little one can be no fun. Being able to take them outside and to feel that blessed sunshine-nothing’s better! :)
