The real BSM: Potato pompadour

It’s not really a pompadour, but I happen to like alliteration, so pompadour it is.  J’s been sickly the last week  or so–even though I’d thought we were finished with that snotty nose and fever business.  Because he’s sickly, his appetite just isn’t where it should be, although his sense of play is slightly elevated.  Consequently, any fun, sticky-yet-fluffy food that comes within his reach is destined to become fodder for the camera.

This is the highlight of my Mother’s Day.  Happy BSM!

He is so adorable. I love this picture.

Thanks, Sara :) There’s something magical about a pile of mashed root vegetables on a one’s head, isn’t there?

I hope he’s feeling better soon. Cute photo op though. And lovely photo as well, like always.

Melody: He’s actually getting better already, thanks!

Hehe. Mashed potatoes - good to eat, even better in the hair! Cute little man.

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 19:55 (Reply)

Thank you, thank you :) Actually, these are a lot better in the tummy–T made them and he’s got a way with mashed potatoes :)

Kids with food are always fun! What a priceless moment…

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 19:56 (Reply)

Well, they’re fun as long as they don’t start throwing it at the wall, which does happen ;)

Oh, my! That is TOO funny!!! Love the focus on his little hands. Hope he’s feeling better soon!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 19:57 (Reply)

Thanks :) I have a fascination with those hands of his, so most of my selective focus shots with him are on his hands!

What a cutie. Mealtime is always an adventure around here!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 19:58 (Reply)

Adventure is the right word, isn’t it? It’s always interesting to see what’s going to happen next around here. Will it be a spitting the food across the table night or a babbly conversation night? Maybe both?

oh my…that is quite a “do”!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 19:59 (Reply)

How diplomatic of you :) It really is horrible, isn’t it? The bath water was practically thick with potato. Ew!

  8. Christine on 12.05.2008 at 09:50 (Reply)

What handsome little man! Great capture… I love the b/w conversion!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 20:01 (Reply)

Thank you! I don’t know if we can call Mr. Potato Head handsome at this moment, though–you’re just totally kind :)

  9. Stacy on 12.05.2008 at 11:32 (Reply)

I hope he is feeling better now. That’s a pretty creative use of potatoes. ;)

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 20:03 (Reply)

Yup, he is–no coughing tonight, thank God! Anyway, I’m thinking of enrolling him in art classes. His work in potato shows promise, don’t you think? Or not :)

      Thanks for saying so :)

I laughed out loud at the potatoes in the hair. I can’t count how many times M has gone straight from table to tub. Awesome picture, as usual.

Sorry to hear he’s been under the weather. Spring should be a time of wellness, not lingering winter-y yuckness!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 20:05 (Reply)

True, it should be a time free from sickies, but it’s still cold around here, and windows defintely are still shut most of the time. In fact, this morning it was 29F here. Eh.

  12. Jaimee on 12.05.2008 at 18:59 (Reply)

Oh how adorable - he looks like he’s having a blast!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 20:06 (Reply)

He’s always having a blast at dinner, whether he’s smooshing potatos on his head or finding another way to yank my chain. I swear, it’s always something new :)

  13. Maggie on 12.05.2008 at 19:37 (Reply)

Ha ha ha ha! That is awesome - what a great shot! And what a nice mommy you are to let him put potatoes in his hair!

    1. Julie on 12.05.2008 at 20:07 (Reply)

Actually, T’s a nice daddy. I was off somewhere else when this started, or it probably wouldn’t have gotten this far :)

Awww… so sorry your little guy isn’t feeling well. Great pic, though! So cute.

    1. Julie on 14.05.2008 at 19:12 (Reply)

He’s much better, thanks! The rain photos you have for Best Shot Monday are so cute!

He does feel better–thanks for the well wishes. We even went outside and transplanted some trees this afternoon without a coughing fit!

    Love the potatoe pompidor!

It’s thinking like this that will ensure he surpasses Elvis in fame.(:

    1. Julie on 14.05.2008 at 19:10 (Reply)

Well, he’ll surpass Elvis in fame around here, at least. His grandma would take offense to that comment, though. She thinks Elvis is a god, and J may be a favorite grandchild, but NOT exactly Elvis :) )
