BSM: Dirty Hand

April 13th, 2008 · 14 Comments

See the other Best Shot Monday posts at Tracey’s!

I thought I’d have a great photo op on Saturday when I took J to his grandparent’s house to see a 6-day-old calf, but I thought wrong.  I’ve obviously done a poor job toughening him up because when we walked into the barn and he heard the mama cow mooing, he immediately went stiff as a board and started screaming.  Red, his cousin, also started screaming.  So, instead of getting some adorable pictures of him hugging a slightly dirty calf, I abandoned the camera on a bale of straw and cuddle the little man until he calmed down a little.

Instead, I’ve got a shot of J checking out his dirty hand, not pointing at me like a gun.  Really.  I swear.  My dad hasn’t gotten him THAT corrupted–of course, if he were a little older, I wouldn’t have put it past him.  Grandpa helped train his three-year-old granddaughter to mention that the large fiberglass orange moose she passes on the way to Grandpa’s house has balls.  Yeah, you heard right.  She now says, “The orange moose has balls, Grandma!”

The orange mouse is NOT anatomically correct.  I do not know where they get this stuff.  It does kind of make a person giggle though, doesn’t it ;)

You just never know what’s going to set them off, right? And my guy does the same thing with his hands - hates to have any kind of dirt or food on them. J is getting so big - time flies, huh?

Your dad sounds a lot like my dad. He teaches my kids words that I would really prefer if they didn’t learn. At all. Definitely not while they’re still so young.

    Cute photo!

That is a great picture, the look on his face is precious. The story of your niece and the moose’s balls is hilarious–I drove past the orange moose last week on my way home from the Twin Cities.

Give him time - he’ll warm up to the cows. Some of the best little kid pictures of this city girl are me snuggled up to a cow at my grandpa’s farm - granted, I was a few years older than J.

I LOVE his hat! That is so great!

It always amazes me the things that can totally freak kids out — sometimes they are not at all what you would expect!

He’s the poster child for complete and UDDER cuteness! If I lived anywhere remotely near where “the snow is melting this afternoon” I’d have to come over just to adoringly oogle over him.

I totally agree, give him some time - his face is totally cute, and I love the pose - my Z is just like that - a spec of dirt and he’s NOT happy!
