Why? Why must J’s nap time always be smack dab right in the middle of every party he attends?
Yesterday was his cousin’s birthday party/Easter dinner and although it started out fine, by about 2:30 his mood disintegrated into sporadic fits between giggle spasms.
Of course, unless we were to have a party at 8 a.m. (and I’m not a fan of that time, myself), nothing would be good for him.
Nothing.
Yesterday’s issues weren’t helped by the previous day’s trip to Minneapolis during which he charmed his grandparents and stayed up from about 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Strangely enough, for over 2 hours of that time, he was just strapped into the carseat in a moving car. You’d think that would be a perfect time to sleep, but NO.
It was a much better time to listen to his Raffi CD and kick his legs to the bluegrass stuff he likes.
Anyway, yesterday’s party was pretty good since I got a chance to take some shots outside my house, which always makes me happy. My sis would rather I didn’t post pictures of my niece’s face, so I can’t post the awesome shots I got of her blowing out the candles–there’s some smoke curling around her head from the candles that is just plain cool.
The first picture here is of her with a pink parasol my other sister got her at Disney. Even though the shot has that extra hand in it and the clutter that always accompanies three kidlets, I kind of like it.
The second is of J and his other cousin playing together. They’re only four months apart, and they play really well together. It’s so nice we can manage to get them together even though we live in very different places.
Her mom has scheduled me to do a family/lifestyle shoot for one of her friends, so I have to get back into the routine of shooting in a variety of places. Thank God the little girl I’ll be photographing is not quite as fast as J. It’s becoming a problem to get shots of him that aren’t just a blur. I think I’ll need to come up with some more strategies in getting him in focus.
All right, I’m out of here. I’m forcing the blogging a little tonight, but I need to get back into the habit so that some of the good stuff can get out again :) I think I’m a little rusty!

My goodness, your photos are gorgeous. Lily has a cousin very near her age, too, and I love it!
