Ah, yeah. So, I’ve not been a good blogger lately. Posts have been sporadic, and I’m not quite sure why that started happening. Maybe the time of year, as I like to blame everything on that? Maybe I’m just in a bit of a lull right now? Maybe work’s busy?
Maybe all of the above?
I can remind you of a few important lessons you’ve probably already learned.
One: Never cut toward yourself, despite how many times you’ve seen your mother and grandmother do the same as they cut up potatoes for Sunday dinner. Not a good move, no matter how many generations have done so without maiming themselves, especially if you’re as klutzy as I am. If you do, you might end up in the ER for an hour and a half while waiting for stitches and a tetanus shot. That was Monday night, but when we got home we STILL had T’s St. Patrick’s Day feast. Of course, T had to finish it because I now have four stitches in the tip and side of my thumb, but that’s neither here nor there. What really matters is that I didn’t bleed into the potatoes and that I now have a reason to ask T to bathe and change J. Life is good, even if the damned thumb is still sore.
Two: When on Friday the doctor says not to return unless J is still sick on Wednesday, listen to her and expect to need alternate daycare plans through Wednesday because the kid is going to be sick until Wednesday.
On Monday I tried to go back to school after spending Friday at home with a very cuddly but very warm little boy. He seemed fine until five minutes before we left and he started sprouting a rash from head to foot. I called the nurse line and my sitter before I made the decision to try sending to daycare. Really, I did. I did get to school for about an hour, but came home when he started breaking out in hives.
Yeah. Not only did he have an itchy rash, but he also had hives on top of the rash. The doc on Monday explained it as a reaction to his rash which was just part of the virus he had. And, since I didn’t know what hives really looked like and that they weren’t always about anaphylactic reactions, I was freaking out when it looked like his face was swelling up.
Now, I’m off to measure what looks like it just might be 10 inches of snow that fell today. Thank God, it’s a sign that spring’s almost here–we always get one big dump before the real spring arrives, and this is just about right. Plus, T saw a robin yesterday, the other sorta-kinda sign of spring. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend :)

Yikes, well it certainly has been a boring hiatus. Sorry about your thumb and rashy hivey sickness!
