It’s FINALLY done.

February 19, 2008

I know, I said that I felt like the adoption paperwork was done when we finally got J’s social security number a little over a month ago, but, people, let me tell you–I got that feeling all over again at about 8 KA-JILLION times above SSN levels at 3:27 p.m. on Friday, February 15.  Why?   That’s when I did a little transfer of our huge-ass tax return into a home equity loan account I like to call the adoption loan.

WE’RE DONE!  The adoption is finally all paid off!

And, oh, my GOD–there’s no time like the present.  With that loan payment, we might as well have had two kids in daycare, and we’d decided we can’t afford two kids in daycare at a time, EVER, which is why we’re not getting back into the paperwork game at this point…or maybe ever.  Who knows? After our experiences with daycare in this area, I’m certainly not looking forward to finding under 2 daycare ever again.

Now, T can finish his master’s degree and I can begin to dream of new kitchen cabinets and flooring.  Oh, my god–that just gives me shivers to think of.  No more chipping plywood cabinets and sagging shelves that need to be flipped every six months or so.  No more white.  Now, I know I painted them white myself since it’s a small galley kitchen, but a light oak would be nice since it would hide the day-to-day grime that accumulates before I have a chance to turn around.

Yay.  Yay, yay, yay!

Congrats!! Isn’t it crazy!?!? I don’t know how people do two in daycare. Maybe that’s why most teachers I know work with one, and then stay home with number two…as a teacher, it would actually COST me money to work, I think!

Praise the Lord! Such a huge relief to have some major debt paid off. We’re just gearing up for round two over here - nerve wracking to say the least!
