BSM and Snottiness Reigns

October 1st, 2007 · 14 Comments

Here’s my best shot for Best Shot Monday over at Picture This.  See how boring I’ve begun this?  Well, that’s about how I feel–run down, tired and boring.

See, I’ve been sick since last week.  Actually, I’ve been sniffly-sick for about two weeks now, and it’s tapping any creative energy that I have left.

I suppose at times like this, it’s best to think of positives.  Here’s my list:

  • The furnace is fixed, and I didn’t worry about the bill all weekend.  The best part of it was that although I was told it was going to take a full day for replacement of bad parts and rewiring someone else’s mess, it only took four hours.  Oh, and my mom was here at the house watching Jackson, so when the guy who was going to repair it couldn’t get ahold of me, he called my dad, who called my mom, who opened the door for him. You’ve got to love small towns.
  • I was able to dose myself with Nyquil and completely knock myself out for two full nights this weekend.  J complied with my drug-induced slumber and slept until 9 a.m. yesterday.  If that’s not a mini-vacation in itself, I don’t know what is.
  • I took no photos, but I did manage to slap together a couple of photobooks that I’ll be ordering from Blurb soon–one for my father of his precious beef cattle and another of 178 of my favorite J pictures to be sent to the agency in hopes that his birthmother might actually see it.  Have I mentioned that I wish we had at least correspondence?  I think about her a lot, and I keep hoping that she’s doing well.  This weekend marked the anniversary of her TPR signing, and I imagine it was a hard one.
  • My snot is now draining from both nostrils.  This is the best news of all, people.  Sure, I’ve blown and sniffed so often that the insides of my nose are as dry as the Saharas and constantly quivering in anticipation of a sneeze, but at least I’m not talking like a muppet and carrying around a crumpled up, used tissue at all times.

OK.  That’s it for this morning’s whinings.  Hopefully, I’ll be back tonight with something much more entertaining and/or enlightening.  Yeeeeaaaahhh.  Riiiiiiighhhhhttt.

Oh poor you being sick and sniffly. Its a rotten feeling. Hope you’re on the mend soon. Meanwhile that’s a gorgeous picture of Jackson! He’s a dish!! I think its great that you want contact with his birth mother; incredibly unselfish of you and best for Jackson in the long run. Let’s hope you have some success soon in that area.

You say it’s boring, but he’s just TOO cute for it to REALLY be boring.
So sorry you’re sick. We all had something last week, too. So, I know how you feel. How awesome that you were able to sleep… a mini-vacation indeed… I’m jealous ;) haha.

Who is that boy? Because I know it’s not J….J’s a baby and that’s a little boy. A very adorable boy and a superb picture of him, but not J.

I’m sorry you’ve been sick. We’ve had it around here for, oh, nearly 2 months now. I usually don’t have toruble with allergies, but this year I barely clear up from one cold before the next one sets in. *sniffle, cough*

That is beautiful that you take so much effort to reach out to J’s birthmother. I’m sure she put much thought and effort into chosing the best possible adoptive parents…and she chose well.

I’m glad things didn’t turn out as bad as you anticipated and that things are actually looking up (or down in the case of your snot). That is one fine picture of J - such a little man already.

I’m right there with you with the snotty nose! I seem to be on my third week of it now! How lovely! Hope you start feeling better!

    And as always…wonderful shot.

He might be the cutest darn thing I’ve ever seen. If you ever need a vacation from him (yeah, right…I know I’m dreaming), you can send him over here for us to take care of for a while. M would be in heaven to have a little guy to boss around and chase after.

Being sick sucks. That’s all I got. Oh, except your son is adorable. You take the best pictures of him. A photographer I am not. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi! I’m not sure who you are, as I just found your blog on someone else’s (Over at Gotachababy), but I swear we’re related!

Your little guy is ADORABLE by the way! I’ve only read 2 of your posts, but so far:

    - you have me thinking back to my HS yearbook days, and our trip to a small but neat college here for the journalism conference

-my alma mater must have had the same Bible throwing/quoting guy, and sadly, possibly the same loincloth dude

-in the last 2 weeks, I had my 35th birthday (the morning of which, my hubby didn’t mention a word to me until i was on the way out the door and my 7 YO niece called to wish me a happy day, and he yelled from the throne in the bathroom - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! when he heard me talking to her) and a neverending cold/sinus-y something!

-I’m an adoptive mama too! (We send pics/letters to our agency in the hopes our son’s birth mom will get them)

So, I”ll be back to read some more! Hope you’re all feeling better. It’s going to be humid and upper 80s here this weekend — enjoy your REAL fall weather!
