Now this is odd: I signed up for Facebook a while back just because I love to check these things out and had been intrigued by it back when the only way to really get on was to be on a college campus and be invited. I wasn’t on a college campus and unlikely to get invited.
Now, not nearly as exclusive, Facebook has offered even ME the opportunity to participate. I decided to be a little sneaky so that the student-kidlets wouldn’t find me and have to expend the energy to make up some little code in order to ridicule me in public without making it obvious. Somehow, despite using my maiden name, one of them found me.
Now, I’m flattered that I’ve been invited as a friend, but…um…isn’t it kind of wrong to have your former teachers on your Facebook pages? I think so.
…
J has now turned into an angel, of course. “Of course” because the moment I rant about him, he morphs into someone wonderful and cuddly for weeks. Note to self: Complain immediately.

Oh, and we have a walker! I’m pretty sure I missed his first steps because I was reading something the first time he did it, but I noted he had flopped onto his hands instead of his hiney, and the flopping occurred in the middle of the floor, too far from anything he might have been hanging on. I forced a repeat performance, and he took three steps into my arms.
I cried. Happy tears.
Why is walking such a big deal even to me, the most oblivious, scattered mom in the world?
…
I had to talk T off the ledge this morning. The poor, dear man almost went out the door wearing his favorite “sansabelt” black pants with a bright red shirt. The white pocket liners stuck out like tiny flotation devices. And, yes, those school colors are good, but they’re good for pep rallies and football uniforms and insanely fashion impaired athletic directors, but not my husband.
We’ll be hitting the Gap Outlet this weekend.
…
I’ve worn jeans to school two days in a row on non-Fridays and no one…NO ONE…has questioned my judgment. I’ve decided that since they look good on me and are comfortable (and I don’t have to worry about walking around the room while kids are working on the floor), I’m going to wear them.
I must buy more.
…
I’m off to work on some v. cool holiday card templates. I’m working with a photographer from Boston on a little project that could turn out very, very well. Its a bit exciting and I’ll show you more as I get going.
…
Happy Friday!

I love jeans. What would we do if there were a social taboo against women wearing pants again?

I’m deathly afraid of facebook, lest some crazy high school friend find me - I can’t imagine having to hide from my students.
And congrats on J walking!! It hits you like a ton of bricks right?
