I got this in my inbox today, a lovely reminder that I’m subscribed to some thread somewhere that I way forgot about. It seems someone is having control issues about her registry–total Bridezilla-turned-Pregzilla.
Here it is:
“We also have a little more modern tastes when it comes to baby clothing and gear; that makes gift-giving very interesting. To combat the inevitable string of traditional boy clothing and gear, we’re bypassing the standard Babies R Us and Target registries to register with a local boutique that carries miniature versions in brands similar to what we wear (Lucky Brand, Diesel, Juicy Couture, etc.). We’ve also enlisted a trusted friend’s help to get the word out that we’re not doing “baby boy traditional.” If people want to get us anything, then they’re encouraged to purchase from our boutique registry, buy something neutral (like white or chocolate onsies), or shower us with diapers.”
Uh, yeah. First off, be thankful that anyone wants to buy you anything–I’d probably develop some sort of shopping anxiety trying to find something for your precious and would end up having seizures beneath the rack of Lucky snap-crotch jeans.
And, oh my god. Only white or “chocolate” onsies? I like white and chocolate, myself, but that’s it? What about cream? Not good enough? I’m sorry, but this is the reason some people hate Americans–from the way some people act you get the idea that it’s all about us and what we want. Can’t it be about the baby and how wonderful it is to bring new life to a family?
God help the kid who has to deal with Momzilla.

Is she for real? As John Stossel would say, “Give me a Break!”

“Cream”? For goodness sakes, everyone knows the shade of which you speak is “ecru”. Get it right, you are so uncouth!
But seriously, this woman needs a smack. Boutique? I rummage the clearance rack at Old Navy…I ain’t payin more than$4 for a piece of clothing he will wear once, twice if he’s lucky. I can afford more expensive stuff, but it’s just a stupid waste of money!

Miss Manners would have a field day with this one.

This made me laugh out loud. She’s going to have a rude awakening when she becomes a mom and her baby has a blowout in his Lucky jeans. Ridiculous! :)

Seriously if one of my friends registered only at a boutique I’d be inclined to get a couple of obnoxious outfits from Walmart and some off brand diapers…but that’s just me. ;-)

Sheesh. That’s crazy. I don’t shell out that kind of money for clothes for myself, let alone for a baby that will outgrow it next month. I’m all about clearance and thrift stores!

What a riot! Hopefully motherhood will be a good wakeup call for her, and if not, I hope she enjoys her chocolate and white onesies.
Where did that come from? :)
